Darisse Smith is a former Army helicopter pilot, Iraq War veteran and freelance journalist living in Southern California. She has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Davidson College, and a Bachelor's Degree in Literary Journalism from UC-Irvine. She likes to tell true stories to elicit discussion of greater issues. She has been married to her husband, Jeff for 22 years. They have a son, Devin, who is 12. She enjoys swimming, lifting weights, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and watching her son play whatever sport he is into at the time.
